Erik Saglia. Fly-by
From 20 June to 18 October, the Museum of Contemporary Art in Cavalese presents Fly-by, a solo exhibition by Erik Saglia, curated by Elsa Barbieri.
Born in Turin in 1989, Saglia has for years been developing a body of work that takes its starting point from the modernist grid, adopted both as a reference structure and, at the same time, as a device to be challenged. In his works, the grid is in fact emphasised, distorted and reorganised until it becomes a reflective and immersive system, capable of drawing the viewer into a complex perceptual experience.
The exhibition’s title draws inspiration from the language of astronautics and refers to the close flyby that satellites and probes perform at high speed in the vicinity of a planet or celestial body. This is often an initial exploratory approach capable of gathering essential data and opening up new avenues of investigation.
In this vein, the exhibition project at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Cavalese unfolds as a traversal of the museum environment, conceived as a new field of observation and intervention, where ‘the truth of the painting’ is dynamically generated through the temporal and perspectival shifts brought about by the continuous flow of visitors.
