La geopolitica dell’architettura: gli avamposti del progetto

The volume aims to critically and comprehensively investigate the link between current global geopolitical instability (marked by conflicts, climate crises, migration, and economic imbalances) and the way in which this condition redefines the role of architecture in shaping the world and caring for both collective and individual spaces. In this context, design means confronting complex and rapidly changing scenarios, where the spatial dimension is deeply intertwined with political, social, and ecological issues.

Through maps, installations, and 1:1 scale interventions, “La geopolitica dell’architettura” shows how architects are responding to these new scenarios of crisis and transformation. The featured works highlight operational strategies ranging from reuse and research into sustainable materials to the experimentation with new ways of living.

The book outlines an international landscape in which architecture serves as a critical and operational tool, capable of interpreting the tensions of the present and imagining possible alternative futures. It also presents a curated selection of artworks, including “The Gift” by Jasmina Cibic (a film exploring the intricate relationship between architecture, politics, and place), three short films produced by LINA Platform fellows, and, lastly, a circular room dedicated to “EXIT”, the famous “geopolitical” animation designed by Diller Scofidio + Renfro for the Fondation Cartier.
