On the occasion of the 61st International Art Exhibition – La Biennale di Venezia, starting in May 2026, Skira will open a temporary store in the heart of Venice, within the Chiesetta della Misericordia, in partnership with Etnia House of Arts. Conceived as a dynamic space for encounter and discovery, the venue will host talks, presentations, and book signings throughout the duration of the exhibition.

The historic publishing house—an international point of reference for art and contemporary visual culture—brings to Venice a selection of its most prestigious titles, alongside limited editions and art and design objects created in collaboration with artists, creatives, and artisans.

Skira’s temporary store is envisioned as a vibrant hub for dialogue with the international cultural scene, activated through a public program involving artists, curators, and leading cultural figures. Skira is currently engaged in the production of several volumes and catalogues dedicated both to projects presented at the Biennale Arte 2026 and to some of the most significant exhibitions taking place across the city during the same period. These publications will be presented to the public between May and November.

Among them are the official publications of the National Pavilions of the Bahamas and Malta; the catalogues of the exhibitions by Erwin Wurm at Museo Fortuny and Marina Abramović at the Gallerie dell’Accademia; monographs dedicated to Rosana Paulino—one of the two artists representing Brazil—Ding Yi, featured at the Fondazione Querini Stampalia, and Wallace Chan, protagonist of an installation at the Cappella di Santa Maria della Pietà; as well as volumes exploring the work of Charlotte Colbert and Arch Hades. This constellation of publications reflects Skira’s commitment to documenting and interpreting contemporary artistic production on a global scale.

Alongside the public program, Skira’s new temporary store will also serve as a space for pause and reflection, dedicated to reading, browsing, and discovering some of the most significant titles in contemporary art, including a selection of limited editions that embody the publisher’s ambition to move beyond the traditional concept of the book and transform it into a collectible object.
